Some families of Mathieu a-series and alternating Mathieu a-series
نویسندگان
چکیده
The main purpose of this paper is to present a number of potentially useful integral representations for the familiar Mathieu a-series as well as for its alternating version. These results are derived here from many different considerations and are shown to yield sharp bounding inequalities involving the Mathieu and alternating Mathieu a-series. Relationships of the Mathieu a-series with the Riemann Zeta function and the Dirichlet Eta function are also considered. Such special functions as the classical Bessel function Jm(z) and the confluent hypergeometric functions 0F1 and 1F2 are characterized by means of certain Fredholm type integral equations of the first kind, which are associated with some of these Mathieu type series. Several integrals containing Mathieu type series are also evaluated. Finally, some closely-related new questions and open problems are indicated with a view to motivating further investigations on the subject of this paper. 2005 Elsevier Inc. Integral expressions for Mathieu-type series whose terms contain Fox's H-function
Closed integral form expressions are derived for the Mathieu-type a-series and for the associated alternating series whose terms contain Fox’s H -function. In the final section, two similar results on Mathieu-type series with the Fox–Wright Psi-function pΨq and the generalized hypergeometric function pFq which can be expressed in terms of Fox’s H -functions are deduced respectively. c © 2006 El...
متن کاملSome Problems and Solutions Involving Mathieu’s Series and Its Generalizations
The authors investigate several recently posed problems involving the familiar Mathieu series and its various generalizations. For certain families of generalized Mathieu series, they derive a number of integral representations and investigate several one-sided inequalities which are obtainable from some of these general integral representations or from sundry other considerations. Relevant con...
متن کاملThe Mathieu groups and designs
In the early 80-ties it became clear that the classification of the non-abelian finite simple groups was complete. Among the finite simple groups we find several families: the alternating groups and various families of groups of Lietype and their twisted analogues. Besides these families there exist 26 sporadic finite simple groups. In these notes we consider five sporadic simple groups, the Ma...
متن کاملNew upper bounds for Mathieu–type series
The Mathieu’s series S(r) was considered firstly by É.L. Mathieu in 1890; its alternating variant S̃(r) has been recently introduced by Pogány et al. [12] where various bounds have been established for S, S̃. In this note we obtain new upper bounds over S(r), S̃(r) with the help of Hardy–Hilbert double integral inequality. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification. Primary: 26D15, 33E20.
متن کاملPartial reciprocal sums of the Mathieu series
It is well known that the Mathieu series has a wide application in mathematics science. In this paper, we use the elementary method and construct some new inequalities to study the computational problem of the partial reciprocal sums related to the Mathieu series and obtain an interesting inequality and a related identity.
